In our previous experience we have
discovered that there is not a great
deal to do in Hilo. It is very rainy,
typical rain forest. There are some
surrounding areas that are very
interesting. We chose to drive over
the other side of the island and visit
one of our favorite beaches in the
Kohala area, Beach 69.
One the way back to the ship we
stopped at AKAKA falls. The flowers
there this time of year were
spectacular.

Sailing into Hilo

After leaving Hilo we sailed past mount Kilauea. The lava was flowing
very heavily. Here are a few pictures. Remember it was low light from a
